The candidates should satisfy the conditions set out below:

  • Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree of not less than 50% or equal CGPA, and 45% for ST (Scheduled Tribe,) SC (Scheduled Caste), and PWD (Persons with Disabilities) or DA (Differently Abled) category.
  • The degree should be granted by any of the organizations constituted by the state or central legislative body in India or by any other educational institutions established by an act of Parliament, also authorized to be considered as a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act, 1956/ with an identical qualification acknowledged by the HRD Ministry, Govt of India.
  • Competitors entering the final year of the bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification examination and individuals who have accomplished the preconditions for the degree and are anticipating results can also apply..

CAT Exam Syllabus, Pattern, and Duration

Syllabus-

CAT pattern for CAT Exam should be no stranger to students looking for an opportunity. It consists of three sections – Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, and Non-Verbal Ability (data interpretation and logical reasoning). These sections are further divided into topics, which are arranged in the order of ascending difficulty.

In Quantitative Ability, students will be presented with problems related to Number Systems and Algebra, Arithmetic, and Reasoning. In the Verbal Ability section, they will have to solve English Comprehension, Vocabulary usage, and grammar questions. In comparison, the Non-Verbal section consists of questions based on pictures or graphics.

Quantitative- Verbal Ability and Non-Verbal Ability

Students have to answer around 100 questions in 13 sections omitting Algebra, Number Systems, Geometry, and Data Interpretation. The paper is divided into three sections depending on students’ abilities. For example, the quantitative- Verbal Ability section has the following questions:

  • Questions are selected from topics in the form of multiple choice. Some of these questions may be based on concept mapping. They may also be based on algorithms, graphs, or tree diagrams. These questions might contain number management problems instead of single-digit arithmetic problems.
  • Questions may also be based on classifying, sorting, and analyzing information.
  • Problems based on number systems with single-digit arithmetic will constitute the biggest chunk of the section. There will also be questions on concepts like ratio, percentage, profit and loss, simple and compound interest. Words related to accounting like VAT, NST, cash flow will also be there.
  • Some of the questions might require you to solve the order of operations in more than one step. Solutions to these problems might be based on a table or a graph.

Examination duration and pattern

Each year, the same pattern of the Common Admission Test exam differs.

The divisions on Quantitative Ability and VARC comprised 34 questions each, while the portion on NV & LR had 32 problems.
