Lesser-Known iPhone Features You Should Appreciate

As an iPhone user, you may be familiar with the basics – how to make a phone call, send a text message, access the internet, and use your favourite apps. But are you taking advantage of all that your iPhone has to offer? Here are some lesser-known features that you should appreciate!

Flashing Light Alerts

Sure, your iPhone can vibrate to alert you of an incoming call or text message, but did you know that it can also flash its LED light? This is a great feature for those who are hard of hearing or simply don’t like the feeling of their phone vibrating. To turn on LED flash alerts, go to Settings > General > Accessibility and scroll down to “Hearing.” Then, tap the switch next to “Flash on Silent” to turn it on.

Block Calls

Next, we all know how annoying it can be to receive calls from unknown or unwanted numbers. Luckily, you can block these callers completely so that you never have to deal with them again. To do this, go to your recent calls list and tap the “i” button next to the number you want to block. Scroll down and tap “Block this Caller.”

Burst Camera Mode

Want to capture a fast-moving subject? No problem. The iPhone’s Burst Camera mode lets you take rapid-fire photos simply by holding down the shutter button. On older devices, just open the Camera app and tap and hold the shutter button; your iPhone will take a series of photos in quick succession. With newer models – new or refurbished iPhones – you will need to swipe over the shutter button to start taking bursts. Otherwise, it will simply record a video when holding the button down.

App Tracking (On or Off)

Do you want privacy and security, or do you want to be tracked by every app that requests it? With iOS 14, you have the option of allowing apps to track your activity or not. This is a great feature for those who are concerned about their privacy and do not want to be tracked by every app they use.

To turn this feature on or off, go to Settings > Privacy > Tracking. From here, you can enable the “Allow Apps to Request to Track” toggle to allow apps to track your activity. When you turn this option off and disable tracking, you will be asked to confirm your decision. Keep in mind that this may impact the functionality of some apps. However, it will also give you peace of mind knowing that your privacy is being respected.

Shake to Undo

This is a feature that many iPhone users are not aware of, and you’ll want to pass it on to your friends. If you make a mistake while typing, simply shake your phone to undo your last action. This can be a lifesaver when you’re in a hurry and need to fix a typo quickly. For example, this in your Notes app as well as many others.

Do Not Disturb While Driving

If you’re someone who tends to get distracted while driving, this feature is for you. With Do Not Disturb While Driving, your iPhone will sense when you’re in a moving vehicle and silence all notifications. You can also set it to send an automated response to any incoming texts, letting people know you’re driving and will respond when you reach your destination. You can find this feature in the Settings app under Do Not Disturb.

These are just a few of the lesser-known features that can make your iPhone experience even better!
