How to Pair AirPods with PC, Mac, and Other Devices

Apple’s AirPods “only work” with the iPhone thanks to the W1 chip, but it’s also a standard Bluetooth headset. That means it can work with any device that supports Bluetooth audio, even Android phones.

1. Put AirPods in pairing state

2. How to connect AirPods to Windows 10

 

Pairing AirPods with a Windows 10 PC will require a few more steps, but shouldn’t take more than a minute.

On a PC, open the Settings app > select Devices from the main menu.

Select Bluetooth & other devices > Add Bluetooth or another device.

3. How to Pair AirPods with Mac or iPad

If you’ve paired your AirPods with your iPhone, this pairing status will sync between your iPhone and any iPads and Macs where you’re signed into your account, thanks to iCloud. To do this, users must sign in to their iPad or Mac with the same Apple ID used on the iPhone. For Macs, the user must enable Handoff.

Older Macs that don’t support Handoff can’t use this easy pairing process, and you’ll have to pair it using Bluetooth. This pairing state also doesn’t sync with Apple TV, so you’ll have to use Bluetooth to pair your AirPods with Apple TV.

 

If everything is set up properly, the user can simply select the AirPod just like any other audio device from an iPad or Mac. First, make sure the AirPods case is open, the AirPods are taken out of the box, or you are wearing it. On iPad, open Control Center, tap the sound wave icon in the top-right corner of the music controls, or press and hold the music control, then tap the device switcher icon and select AirPods from the list. audio devices.

4. How to pair AirPods with another device

To pair your AirPods with any other device or older Mac, simply find the easy pairing button on the AirPods charging case. Look at the back of the AirPods case. It’s the “setup button” you need to pair your AirPods with other devices, used when the W1 can’t pair with other devices automatically.

Windows 7: Go to Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Devices and Printers > Add a device, then select AirPods.

Mac: Click the Apple menu and go to System Preferences > Bluetooth. Select AirPods in the list and click ” Pair “.

Apple TV: Navigate to Settings > Remotes and Devices > Bluetooth. Select AirPods in the list.

Other devices: Simply navigate to the Bluetooth settings screen, where you can view and connect Bluetooth devices. AirPods will appear as an option here like any other Bluetooth headset.

 

5. How to Reconnect AirPods to iPhone or iPad

AirPods will be disconnected from iPhone after pairing them with a non-iOS device. You will need to reconnect them to your iPhone to use them again.

 

To do this, first put the AirPods back in the box. Go to the iPhone home screen, unbox the AirPods, and place it near the iPhone. (This process also works on iPad, if you want to pair AirPods with iPad instead of iPhone.)
